Basingstoke, a former market town, has a
population of approximately 150,000 with about 2% unemployment.
Local employers include IBM, Sony, Motorola, Eli Lily, The AA and
Wella as well as many other blue chip companies.
The town centre is situated just of the M3 motorway at Junction 6
and currently boasts 2 theatres,
The Anvil and The
Haymarket, as well as a 1.1 million sq footage of shopping centre at Festival Place,
which includes the main sports centre, a 10 screen cinema and
various restaurants for evenings out.
A short bus ride out of the
centre can take you to the Leisure Park, which has a bowling alley,
a swimming complex with gym, an ice rink where the Basingstoke Bison
play, a Bingo hall, another cinema and the Milestones Museum.
Basingstoke has great transport
links
where London and Reading can both be reached within 45 minutes by
train and the main bus station located in the heart of the town.
